Slow. Steady.

Things have been quiet around here lately.

First snow of the season, two weeks ago

Taken from the window

Home. We are becoming very familiar again with at-home routines and life.

Banana Brownies with brown sugar frosting

(A couple more recipes we really enjoyed recently-
Spicy Sausage Pasta = AMAZING dish. Ours wasn't really "spicy." It had just enough spice.
The Pioneer Woman's Chicken Spaghetti = I love everything I have ever tried from the Pioneer Woman. I think I want a cookbook for Christmas. hehe.)

We celebrated Ashton's 6th birthday. This was the most mellow of all the birthdays thus far. For the first time ever, we didn't have a big party. He wanted a chicken nugget with french fries dinner at Moo and Matt's house with Uncle Joely. It was honestly my most favorite of all of his birthdays.

He loves transformers. LOVES. They have his heart at the moment. He also enjoys watching youtube reviews of all of the action figures. The Gooey Louie game he received for his birthday is already a complete loss though. After playing it once, all the booger pieces were thrown all over the house thanks to a little toddler brother. Liam now carries around the long rubbery green pieces like a beloved stuffed toy. Boots also enjoys swatting them around in the middle of the night.

So. Maybe not a complete loss.

I am thankful I have a husband who is transformer-minded. Really. I think some people are just born with the gift to put the figures together patiently. I take one look at the instructions and want to cry.

After Josh left for work, we packed a lunch and met up with our favorite Irvines. They brought Ashton a special birthday cupcake. ....Even better, the play area is located in the building next to Josh's work so he was able to come over and have lunch with us. I was so happy we could spend lunch with some of our favorite people.

We stopped at Price chopper and (another first) Ashton picked a cake out at the store. He chose an icecream oreo cake. We came home and they played outside on a brilliantly sunny afternoon. We drove over to Moo's house when Josh came home.

Uncle Joel gave Ashton, Devastator. A transformer you can only buy from places like Ebay now since it is a little older. He was so thrilled, he didn't even stick around to eat his icecream cake after we sang Happy Birthday.

So. I told myself to leave the Christmas decorations OUT of the Thanksgiving holiday and this happened.

Thanksgiving on one side.

Christmas on the other.

In the spirit of the season though, the kids have been helping me bag up some extra groceries to bring to the food pantry at church. Along with some extra clothes and toys.

Happy upcoming Thanksgiving to you all. May you be blessed and warmed by everything good this season has to offer.

The Great I Am

We sang this during worship time at church and I was moved to tears.

"Hallelujah Holy Holy
God Almighty The Great I am
Who is worthy
None beside thee
God Almighty
The Great I Am"

Go where the love is.

I was thinking today just how richly blessed I am to be on this adventure of a life with these awesome kids.

In case you haven't heard, we have another boy who will soon join this adventure too.

His name will be Eli. Taken from my favorite children's book of all time, "All the Places to Love." In the book, they have a little boy being shown all the places his family love the most. Little places that make "all the difference in the world." I can't wait to share our favorite places with you, Eli.

Places that make all the difference in the world.

Our Halloween pictures I've been meaning to share.

Pumpkin seeds!

Halloween fun.

They made spider hats!

We made a Halloween-themed jello for sensory play.

It had plastic spiders, eyeballs, candy corn and halloween-themed pasta inside

They also had a fun Halloween-themed bath!

The pumpkins and letters were made from craft foam, so they could redecorate the pumpkins with any shapes they'd like. I also colored the water orange and added spiders inside and we made some bath-friendly green slimey finger paint.

Halloween Day!

This was at about 9 a.m.... She was all ready to go trick or treating.

Over at moo and matt's

It was the first rainy Halloween they have experienced but luckily it wasn't very cold... just soggy.

I find our route is getting longer as they grow each year.

Ashton drew a map to the treasure

They found the X!

Great job guys!

We had our first frost a couple of weeks ago.

November is calling.

Much love sent your way.
xoxo, Jessie
