I am thankful

The Return of Hot Chocolate in the Chewbacca Cup.

I am filled with gratitude today.

Lights on the Lake walk thru with our cousin Ally.

My life is rich with love.

I am in love with my husband. I am in love with my children. and I have gained so many wonderful friends this year. ...Love.

Making ornaments for our friends. our family.

Teaching our children to be loving and compassionate human beings is so important to me. I want them to value life and all of those who share this big old earth with us. I want them to be giving.

I remember being a child and gathering all of my art supplies in preparation to create something special for my family and friends. Or breaking open my piggy bank to count every last penny so I could go out and Christmas shop. I remember my lists and really thinking deeply into the thought of what each family member would like. I remember coming home and wrapping everything up while the Christmas music echoed in the background. Safely tucking everything under the tree.

I want them to know what that feels like. and how good a heart can feel sitting in front of a tree with gifts for those you hold so dear to your heart. It is a blessing to have family and friends to celebrate this season with. to love.

Some other things I am thankful for right now -
I am thankful for our home... Our wonderfully lived in home. I am thankful my husband has a job he loves. I am thankful for the friendship him and I share. I am thankful for warm fuzzy socks and boots for the upcoming winter. I am thankful for a healthy pregnancy. I am thankful for you. (that's right you. You reading this right now.... you make me thankful.)

I am thankful for the warmth the oven brings on cold November nights. Warm meals.

and baking cookies with my children.

Messy paint hair

Homemade Oreo cookies... recipe from my favorite cooking blog Smitten Kitchen

Coming to a tree near you:

God bless all of you this Thanksgiving.

We are approaching the greatest month of the whole year!

Ashton turns 4.

He's four.

He is our Thomas the train loving, artistic, funny, goofy, construction truck lovin', rice krispie eatin', happy boy. (who is also obsessed with all things in the bread group.) His vocabulary continues to grow and he tells more jokes at age 4 then he asks questions. His heart is good and he loves his sister. His arms are always willing and ready to hug.

We love him.

We had a small party for him this past Saturday. and I loved hearing him envision his special day.

He wanted to help make his cake this year.

He wanted everything Thomas the train.

I cut up an old Thomas book he had that was on it's way out.

If you look closely, he helped me to string a few of his Thomas trains up for decoration.

The cake he wanted was simple. "A blue Thomas cake with m&m's" he requested.

Always anxious waiting for his guests to arrive.

Try keeping a 2 year old and a 4 year old away from a table that looks like this. It isn't easy. Especially when you have m&ms resting on the table simply begging to be eaten.

It was a bright and sunny afternoon for our bright and sunny Ashton

It's as if everyone just knew what he'd love without even having to ask. Trains, trucks and tools. ...He was in his glory.

Give a child a room full of family and balloons and they'll have all they'll ever need.

He sleeps with his new toys and books every night. He's going to need a bigger bed soon.

Aunt Jo Jo and Uncle Freddy found a really big train for him and we set it up in his bedroom on Sunday.

He also received his presents from daddy, mama and Josie.

We had bought him hungry hungry hippos and now it's been the "go to" game for the past few nights. I had forgotten how much fun it is to play. Especially with two very excited children.

Happy Birthday Dear Ashton... Happy Birthday to you.

..."and many more!"

We love you, Teddy.

Mommy, Daddy and Josie

Some side notes :

How about that snow last Friday?

Even though it clearly melted in less than a day.

Winter is coming. and the holidays are upon us.

*does the funky chicken*

I'm happy.

Mailing in his Thanksgiving coloring contest page to the Post Standard.
