fireflies

Our sun kissed Florida Grandma came to visit last week. The kids had much fun and Ashton even scored a new bike! (thank you!) It was so nice to have her back. It was also nice to spend time with our auntie Kim.

Ashtons new bike!

The weather was very hot that week, so we spent much of our time poolside.

We met up with our cousins Matt and Ben one evening for french fries at the park.

Our other cousins, Abi and Roby, came over this weekend and we had a camp out in our backyard.

First, we made pizza for dinner.

We took a walk across the street to get some treats and headed back to the playground.

Abi was my little videographer.

Roby reminded me of his uncle Joel. He just loved the fire.

It was wonderful watching the kids have fun under the light of the moon. (and within the light of the bonfire. and within the light of their glow necklaces.)

Everyone put on a light show. and danced. and had pretend light saber battles.

You should have seen the field that night. Fireflies were every where. The kids and I went on a hunt and we were able to catch 5.

You can actually see some in this picture. Can you spot them? How many? :)

Sometimes you forget how fun it is to tent. and at moments you are also hit with the reality that everyone will probably get no sleep and the next day will be quite a long, tiring day. but it's one of those things that are always totally worth it. Especially once the clock creeps closer to 1 a.m. and the giggles are uncontrollable.

Josie was the real trouble maker. Girlfriend wouldn't go to sleep when everyone was shouting, "GO TO BED JOSIE!"

Ok, so the boys were a little crazy too.

I woke up early that morning to the sound of raindrops dancing on our tent. and then, the brightest sun ever shone through the blue screen.

The kids were up!

We went over to Moo and Matt's to watch the debut performance of the band; "Purple Peanut Butter"

They were marvelous.

Alright, I am off to search our computer for some picture folders I have lost. The kids are napping and all is well here.

Looking forward to this later.

Every day the boys ride their bikes up and down our little road. It's been bittersweet watching our little man blend in with the bigger kids lately. He's not so little anymore. and he has made lots of good friends.

Take care! -Jess
